Job Description

Brief Description of the Role: To implement an effective maintenance system within customer facilities and ensure SLA delivery

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs)
  1. Drive timeous execution of effective maintenance strategies i.e. planned, preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance and MHSA requirements
  2. Identify maintenance risks on Client’s property and equipment towards evaluation and resolution
  3. Implementation of an effective HSE, Quality & Risk Management system aligned with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and the mine's policies in conjunction in accordance with Client needs
  4. Ensure optimum utilization of available resources in various maintenance works
  5. Ensure timely delivery and appropriateness of parts and spares for effective maintenance execution
  6. Continuously monitor and evaluate maintenance work performed by technical staff to ensure quality, cost optimization and timely execution as per SLA, work instructions and Client’s instructions
  7. Identify gaps and deficiencies in services, advise and effect solutions as part of Continuous Improvement on FM services rendered
  8. Manage back-to-back SLA agreements with suppliers and contractors
  9. Monitor service providers’ (contractors) performance and effect corrective action on any deviations to the SLA
  10. Assist in the management of technical projects and provide technical support, where applicable
  11. Demonstrate and instill effective adherence to processes on infrastructure maintenance
  12. Explore and recommend innovative methods, based on best practices, in order to bring about cost-effective solutions
  13. Manage operations within allocated budget
  14. Manage technical staff performance and facilitate improvement through regularly monitoring performance and providing required coaching, support and feedback
  15. Manage performance & conflicts within subordinate employees & effect corrective actions, in line with company policies/procedure
  16. Ensure adequate staff placement i.e. prepare suitable shift-roster and manage/approve applicable leave for subordinate employees
  17. Responsible for training, coaching, mentoring & development of technical staff. Facilitate on-the-job training, statutory competency development, and succession planning in alignment with the mine's skills development strategy.
  18. Accept legal appointments as required (e.g. 2.9.2 or 2.6.1, depending on site structure and designation). Execute statutory duties including:
• Ensuring the safe installation, operation, maintenance, and inspection of machinery and installations;
• Signing off on legal documents such as inspection reports, maintenance logs, and safe work procedures;
• Participating in incident investigations, audits, and DMR inspections;
• Ensuring that statutory inspections, testing, and recordkeeping are conducted as per MHSA regulations and relevant SANS standards;
• Ensuring that subordinate personnel are trained, competent, and compliant with legal and procedural requirements

19. Legal and Regulatory Compliance Oversight - Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements related to engineering and maintenance operations, including MHSA, SANS, and DMR directives. Maintain audit readiness and facilitate regular internal and external compliance audits.

Minimum Requirements:
  • B-Tech or Degree in Engineering: Mechanical/Electrical/Civil or related formal qualifications
  • Matric (Senior Certificate)
  • Valid SA Drivers License
  • 5 yrs relevant engineering experience in maintenance engineering, CRM & Property Management
  • Engineering maintenance, CRM & Property Management
  • MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Project & MS Outlook (Intermediate skill level), SAP knowledge
  • MHS Act, ISO 9001 Quality Management & Risk Management Systems
